Under the overall vision of Philippines 200, the Department of Tourism is the central
government agency primarily responsible for catapulting the Philippines into leadership
rank in the global tourism industry by year 2000.
Two government corporations are attached to DOT for policy and programs coordination.
The Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA) is in charge of tourism infrastructure and
facilities while the
Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation
(PCVC) is directly accountable for
tourism marketing and promotion.
The Department carries out its tourism promotion and regulation programs mainly through
its regional offices. Its overseas operations are implemented through corresponding units
located in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Osaka, Hong Kong and
Sydney. Marketing representatives are likewise employed in Taiwan, Singapore and Korea.
