November: The Season For Flowers

It is November, not April, that is the season for flowers.

Come dawn of the 1st day of November, all roads lead not to cemetery as it is All Saints Day, but first, to Freedom Park in Carbon, Cebu City.

Flowers are still the bestseller and November is the time of year where a good harvest can be had, as far as ranking in a little sum of money is concerned.

Flower vendors usually “morning the night” in selling there precious flowers as people also usually buy flowers as early as three in the morning.

But “flowers for All Soul’s Day” is not as expensive compare to Valentines Day. If one wants a long lasting flower, they would settle flowers like everlasting, chrysanthemum, local mums and these are the cheapest flowers too.

For Cebuanos, to choose the freshest flowers; it doesn’t need a trained eye to spot the wilt one but when the colors of the petals are very alive, Cebuanos know it is fresh!

But the best flowers one should gift a loved one with-the spirit of those who had gone ahead of us-are those picked from the garden of the heart.
