October:
Tradition of the Rosary
For
Marian devotees, the most important decades in life are the decades that
make up a rosary. It only takes 15 minutes to say five of these, but the
benefits, they say, extend well into the afterlife.
From
the time of the apostles to the time at hand, the rosary has been a
favorite devotion of the Catholic faithful. And while devotees pray it any
day of the year, recitation of the rosary picks up every October, it being
the officially designated month for the devotion.
To
those who pray it, the Catholic Church has promised, “grace in
this life and glory in the next.” Many of those who have since gained
entrance to the Pearly Gates gratefully acknowledge the rosary’s role in
their getting there. Devotees, on the other hand, who are still struggling
along the straight and narrow find in the rosary a well of grace.
Faith
in the rosary as deep as others explains why this devotion to our Mother
is, indeed, the mother of all devotions.
