Bogo
- Projects and Developments
Aspiring to become a city, Bogo
certainly has a lot to boast of. Aside from its vast sugarcane plantations,
the town is also home to several infrastructures, landmarks, basic services,
health and social services, education, banking, lending, and religious
institutions and a mortuary.
The town has enough utilities for
communications, power and water needs of its residents. It has sports and
recreation facilities, pension houses, beach resorts and a golf course
nearby.
In fact, Bogo is groomed to become the
economic and educational center in northern Cebu. It already has six
infrastructure projects lined up for the next 10 to 15 years. These projects
are: the light industrial park, the port at Polambato, integrated bus
terminal, satellite market at San Antonio, a family fun and amusement park,
and a sports village. A 41-hectare economic processing zone which will be
located in the 400-hectare industrial zone in Pulang Bato, is envisioned to
contain canneries and facilities that will keep frozen fish produce to be
shipped for export. To prepare the town for these economic developments, it
will first set up support facilities like a ro-ro (roll on roll off) port.
Bogos municipal government was now raising funds for the P141-million
port project.
And who says environment has to suffer
with Bogos industrialization? The town won for five years the Cleanest
and Greenest Municipality Award. Other awards garnered include the golden
award in budget management and healthy market award.
