Cement Plants Soon to Rise in 2001
Two
cement factories will soon be erected in the Cebu towns of Ginatilan and
Malabuyoc as international cement manufacturers expect demand for cement
to increase in the year 2001.
International
cement manufacturers like Cemex of Mexico and Lafarge of France were now
operating cement plants in the province – Apo Cement in Naga and
Lloyds Richfield in Danao City, respectively.
According
to reports, other foreign giants have also bought stakes in other local
firms: Blue Circle of the United Kingdom, in Fortune Cement and Mindanao
Portland Cement; and Holder-bank of Switzerland, in Union Cement. In
addition to Apo Cement, Cemex, the world’s third largest cement maker,
also brought stakes in Rizal and Solid Cement.
International
manufacturers are investing so much for cement production in the
Philippines because they have seen future profits in the country.
According
to source, the cost of a cement plant would depend on its capacity,
location and distance. Putting up of industrial plants in Cebu is a wise
decision, as it would form good components of the economy.
After
its completion, more workers will be needed to work in the factory and
there would be lesser-unemployed citizens.
