Environment Subject

Environmental protection will soon be a mandatory subject in colleges and universities in the country.

The Environmental Management Bureau is drafting a syllabus for a three-unit subject on environment and sustainable development.

In line with DENR, the EMB is working with the Commission on Higher Education for the inclusion of the subject in the general education curriculum in colleges and universities. The EMB and the Philippine Association of Tertiary Level Educational Institutions in Environmental Protection and Management have begun training teachers on environmental protection.

The EMB is also planning to teach grade school and high school students on environmental protection. DENR will help industries establish environmental management systems.

Implementing an environmental management system and clean production policies in Cebu would make local industries more competitive in the international market.
