The Joos Bar, aside from its being
non-alcoholic and smoke-free, is delightful to the senses with its artful
details scattered everywhere. There is an assortment of framed poems on
tables, sketches and photography exhibited on walls as well as other
interesting knick-knacks. There is also a game-room that includes billiards,
computers with internet access and a card rack. And all of these are swathed
in softly subdued light, creating a relaxing mood.
The entertainment corner is complete
with light and sound systems. It is here where poetry reading sessions,
facilitated by the Women in Literary Arts (WILA), are held. Here, the aspiring
poets as well as the established ones are literally given the limelight.
Started last May 28, these sessions are now regularly held every Friday
evening from 9 to 10 PM and the audience has continually grown ever since.
Local writers are beginning to see it
as a venue for poetic pursuits and the Pitcher Plants ambience is a lot
of help, for its interiors alone can inspire any artist to create his works.
