At 52, Mayor Alvin Garcia
still continue to capture the Cebuanos’ heart based on the support he
gets during the election. Despite the series of attacks and bombardment
he gets from media, Mayor Alvin Garcia remains firm in defending the
honor of the Cebuanos. He has already come up with several projects that
aim to uplift the lives of the Cebuanos.
Mayor Alvin Garcia was
born in June 29, 1946. He spent his elementary years at Cebu Normal
College and in the University of San Carlos during his high school
years. He took Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in Ateneo de Manila
with honors and attended law school at the University of San Carlos. He
completed his degree at the Ateneo de Manila and passed the bar
examination in 1971.
In 1971-75, Mayor Alvin
Garcia had practiced law with J.P. Garcia and Associates and later
became the vice president of Philippine American Investment Corporation.
He was elected vice mayor of Cebu City in the year 1995, and was again
re-elected for the same position in May 11,1998.
Mayor Alvin Garcia
rendered his articulate, unsinkable and steady dynamism to defend the
honor of the Cebuanos and to uplift their standard of living. Mayor
Alvin Garcia takes pride in all his works, which are intended, for the
betterment of the city. He had come up with several projects, in terms
of peace and order; he was able to make Cebu as the city with the lowest
crime rate in the nation. He was also successful in changing the image
of the city by coming up with the Clean and Green project that aims to
beautify the center isles, sidewalks, parks and plazas with greenery’s
and flowering ornamental plants to make the environment look more
pleasing to the eyes.
Up to these days Mayor
Alvin Garcia is still very much on the go in his venture to make Cebu
City a place worth visiting.
