Richard Jude Caliao

A firm decision-maker, Richard Jude Caliao of Cebu Gems, made it a point that being able to play in the MBA will make his family and his fellow Cebuano proud of him. "RJ" as his friends fondly calls him, stand 6’3" tall and weighs 205 lbs. He was born on February 2, 1972. This 28-year-old young man is the son of Mr. Rodolfo and Mrs. Rosalina Caliao.

Richard went to the University of Mindanao for his elementary education. He spent his secondary years at Holy Cross. During his college years, Richard went to the University of Cebu where he finished a degree in Computer Science.

With his hectic schedule for practices, RJ still finds time for himself for relaxation. He loves the sun and enjoys swimming. He also loves to watch movies if he still have extra time. Going out is not his thing, but RJ sees to it that every now and then, he gave himself a break after a tiring days’ work out and basketball practices.

In preparing himself for a game, RJ does a lot of work out and lifts weight to keep him fit. Richard is a kind of guy who really takes care of himself. He doesn’t want to abuse his health. Health conscious, RJ sees to it that he sleeps early every night to be able to keep up with his work and basketball practices. Richard started playing basketball in the PBL. His love for the sport can be traced way back from his boyhood. Now that he’s with the Cebu Gems, Richard tries his very best to keep up with the teams’ standard and to give the team his 100% performance and contribute whatever he can give to the team by using his talent in basketball.
