W. Giftshoppe
If you
think you saw that sequined pedal pusher or snake-skin body fit
somewhere even before it became a fad, you probably saw it first at
A.W. Giftshoppe in Ayala
Center Cebu. Yup, this place, in short, is a forerunner in
fashion, often making and unmaking the fad.
A
perfect example: Even before the cargo pants hit the streets, A.W.
Giftshoppe had these baggy pants in their shelves a year or two ago.
When it became a fad here and customers kept asking for new
arrivals.
Now,
after it’s first outlet at Eddie’s Hotel which is mainly a
wholesale store, A.W. Giftshoppe in Ayala is turning two. The market
consists of students and yuppies. In fact, unlike the misconception
that clothes and accessories found are for women and men only, A.W.
Giftshoppe also has get-ups for kids.
To keep
abreast with the changing style, A.W. updates their products at least
once or twice a month, alternating between Hong Kong and Bangkok as
sources of wares. Though a minimal percentage of items are from the
states, like Victoria Secret perfumes. But what really draws the
people in is A.W.’s reasonable prices. For instance, loud print
blouses you’d probably find in some P170 at A.W. Giftshoppe. Blouses
are most salable. Also, shoes which range from P300 to P500 and bags
at around P300 to P400.
So
shopping at A.W. Giftshoppe is not just about being first in fashion,
it’s also being chic for much less.
