| ASIA-PACIFIC COUNCIL OF AMERICAN CHAMBERS OF
COMMERCE (APCAC) |
dentifies issues of primary concern to the American business community;
formulates APCAC positions on these issues; develops plan of action to communicate in the
most effective way to people and organisations that may be able to assist in achieving
outcome; sends a delegate to Washington to key Congressional and Administration leaders to
exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

| BANKING AND FINANCE |
serves as a forum for and dissemination of information regarding
financial and economic issues; represents business community in expressing its views in an
organised way on financial matters directly affecting the industry.

| COMMUNITY AFFAIRS |
facilitates the activities of the American community by developing and
maintaining programs, i.e., Summer Youth Program; interfaces with other American and
Philippine organisations to coordinate overall community affairs.

| ENERGY AND MINING |
discusses energy issues affecting the business sector, developing
policy positions on proposed legislations for the common interest of the business
community
|
| ENVIRONMENT |
takes steps in promotign environmental awareness among AmCham
members, and taking an active role in environmental legislation, developing papers as
necessay.
|
| GARMENTS |
works closely with the Philippine Customs Bureau to promote
increased exportation of local products; discusses issues of concern and makes
recommendations on how tosolve problems arising from proposed legislations drafting
position papers as necessary.

| HISTORICAL |
prepares a monthly historical column for the AmCham Business Journal
and a quarterly historical supplement on American commercial or civic history; serves as
consultant for historical and commercial researchers.
|
| INDEPENDENT BUSINESS |
supports and looks into the needs of American businessmen in the
Philippines who are not associated with large and/or multinational companies; conducts
seminars relevant to the interests of independent business in the Philippines.

| INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS |
aims to develop better understanding of the Philippine industrial
relations system for improved U.S. company operations as well as for the betterment of the
Philippine workforce; interacts actively with the Philippine labor organizations on a
tripartite basis; gather data and feedback on all areas of labor/management
decision-making. |
| INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS |
assists in strengthening intellectual property protection among AmCham
members;conducts surveys to determine the extent of damage/losses sufered by companies
adversely affected by violations thereof; apprises members of development in intellecual
property protection.

| LEGISLATIVE |
monitors proposed and pending legislations which might affect
AmCham members; develops position papers on proposed legislations and arranges attendance
at hearings on behalf of the AmCham.

| MEMBERSHIP |
maintains membership of the AmCham at an acceptable levels; screens
candidates for membership; making sure that they meet requirements; makes recommendations
regarding the rate structure of membership fees and dues.

| PHARMACEUTICAL |
a forum to discuss/exchange information of concern to the pharmaceutical
industry specifically as regards the problems and difficulties faced under current
economic situation; makes recommendations on how to respond to the issues relative to the
impact of new laws governing the industry; monitors the inventory levels of pharmaceutical
products and advises the government officials accordingly when possible problems are
expected regarding products supply.

| PHILIPPINE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT |
monitors the business climate in the Philippines, on the economic,
political & social conditions, law and order situation, rules, regulations, laws and
customs duties affecting the American business community.

| PUBLIC AFFAIRS |
this committee exists to help create and enhance an environment
conducive to the growth and prosperity of U.S. businesses through the following: data
gathering/analysis, information; dissemination/marketing,improved media relations; conveys
an understanding of the AmCham's philosophy, objectives and commercial and socio-economic
activities to key public and special interest groups, advises AmCham's Board of Directors
on level of public profile; recommends to the Board specific plan of action based on image
study results.

| PUBLICATIONS |
ensures that AmCham members are kept informed of events in both private and
public sectors affecting their businesses or professional practices in the Philippines;
articulates the official posture of the AmCham on issues of importance.

| TAXES AND TARIFFS |
disseminates information about tax measures and the effect of such
taxes onmembers's professions and/or businesses; negotiates on behalf of the AmCham with
tax authorities, for a more reasonable application of tax laws
|
| TRADE AND INVESTMENT |
aimed at increasing and promoting foreign investments in the
Philippines, the committee serves as a forum to discuss and disseminate information on
investment-related issues; takes an active role in tracking foreign investment
legislation, developing policy positions as necessary and facilitates the role of inviting
trade missions and American business delegations to the Philippines

| TELECOMMUNICATIONS |
acts as liaison between the AmCham business community and the
Governments of the Philippines and the U.S. regarding telecommunications policies; shares
information on activities and policies of the telecommunications sector with members
involved in the industry; drafts policy recommendations in areas where there are strong
common interests among the members of the AmCham and the American business community at
large.

| TRANSPORTATION |
monitors current and future directions of the transportation industry in the
Philippines and their impact on the country's economic development; coordinates the
efforts of AmCham in attempting to improve transportation facilities in the Philippines. |
