What is
AmCham? The American Chamber of
Commerce of the Philippines, Inc., (AmCham) is a private, independent, and
non-profit association founded in Manila in 1902, incorporated on July 3, 1920, and
organized under Philippines laws.
AmCham is affiliated with the Chamber of
Commerce of the United States (COCUSA) and the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers
(APCAC). It also maintains close liaison with other foreign chambers in Manila and
Philippine business groups. It networks in the U.S. with the Philippine-American
Chamber of Commerce in New York, U.S. - R.P. Business Committee, Asia Society, and the
U.S. - ASEAN Council.
MISSION
STATEMENT
The Chamber exists to serve the
needs and wants of U.S. businesses through the participation of members in promoting their
long-term objectives, while contributing to the civic and economic development of the
Philippines.
ARTICLES OF
ASSOCIATION
The purposes for which the said
corporation is formed and to which it is dedicated are as follows:
a. The promotion and development of trade, commerce and industry
of the United States of America in and with the Republic of the Philippines
b. The coordination of American efforts devoted to the legitimate
economic development and advancement of the Philippines.
c. The provision of means for the convenient exchange of ideas
and the perfection of plans in the promotion of the commercial, industrial, agricultural,
and other resources of the Philippines;
d. The cultivation of friendly relations between Americans and
the people of the Philippines.
In pursuing such purposes,work is carried out under the guidance of an annually-elected
eleven-member Board of Directors, by standing Committees whose chairpersons and members
are chosen from the General Membership and by a permanent staff of under the executive
Director. |
